Getiria Onsongo - Chairman


Getiria Onsongo, a native of Kenya, is currently pursuing a PhD in Computer Science at the University of Minnesota. He attended Nakuru High School before proceeding to Mahindra United World College in India where he obtained his International Baccalaureatebefore Diploma.


He then moved to the United States and received a Bachelors in Mathematics and Computer Science at Macalester College in St. Paul Minnesota before joining the University of Minnesota to pursue a Doctorate in Computer Science.

Following her graduation from Alliance Girls High School in Kikuyu, Kenya, Patricia moved to Baltimore, MD where she earned her Bachelors in Mathematics and Masters in Electrical Engineering from Coppin State and Morgan State Universities respectively.


Patricia enjoys traveling as well as working in ministry and volunteering with non-profits. She is currently pursuing her MBA at the University of Minnesota and works as a Six Sigma Black Belt at Cummins Power Generation in Minneapolis, MN.

Karanja Gichane - Secretary


Karanja Gichane graduated from the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication with a diploma in journalism in Kenya before moving to the USA. He attended Hennepin Technical College and graduated with an Associate degree in Video Production.


Having worked extensively with nomadic tribes in Marsabit and Moyale districts in Kenya, Karanja witnessed the plight of marginalized communities including high illiteracy levels and lack of basic necessities. This experience entrenched his belief in helping educate needy children.

Wycliffe Mokaya was born and raised in Shauri-Moyo Kenya. Attended St. Paul's High School-Kevote. He then moved to the United Stated and enrolled at Anoka -Ramsey Community College in Coon Rapids, MN.


He graduated with an Associate Degree in nursing. He is currently pursuing Bachelors in nursing at Augsburg College in Minneapolis and works as a nurse at Fairview Southdale Hospital.

Kenneth Karanja


Kenneth Karanja was born and raised in Nakuru, Kenya. He attended Kilimo Primary and Moi High School - Kabarak for his elementary and secondary schooling, respectively.


He then proceeded to the U.S.A to attend college at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore where he graduated with a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Food and Agricultural Science. Subsequently, Kenneth graduated from the University of Minnesota with a PhD in Molecular Biology.


Currently, he is a post-doctoral scholar at the California Institute of Technology.

Raymond Mauya


Born and raised in Kenya, Raymond schooled at Mosocho Academy and Cardinal Otunga for his primary and high School.


For advanced studies, he attended Hennepin Technical College and Minneapolis Community College where he obtained an Associate in Electronics Degree and General Studies respectively. Raymond further pursued under-graduate and graduate studies in Electrical Engineering both from the University of Minnesota.


Currently, Raymond is based in Minnesota and Works for Xcel Energy Services INC as a Specialty Systems Engineer."

An old boy of Pumwani Boys Nairobi, Steve Mwele raduated in May 2008 from Century Technical College with Mechanical Drawing and Design currently in transition to the University of Minnesota.

Education is the best gift one can ever give or receive and Steve feels blessed to be part of KSAA.

Cory Anderson

Cory Anderson


Following the completion of a Bachelor's Degree in International Relations at Eckerd College, Cory returned to Minnesota, determined to pursue a career that embraced his passion for social change. He began working in schools and soon acquired his secondary social studies teaching license.


He is currently pursuing his Masters Degree in Teaching as well as International Leadership at the University of St. Thomas. He is a proud supporter of KSAA because of its ability to transform the lives of young people and to develope strong communities. Cory works at the FAIR School in downtown Minneapolis.
